Buffalo, MO: July 7, 2021- The old saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” still holds true today. Capturing wildlife by photography in their native habitat, in the roughest terrain, is a true talent, capturing them up close and personal without disturbing them in any way, is a special artform. “We are proud to announce our selection of Mountain Girl Photography of Cody, Wyoming, to capture the natural splendor and majestic essence of the greater sage-grouse in its natural habitat for our research visuals” states Craig Alderman of the Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation (QUWF).
Wyoming is the home of the largest remaining population of the greater sage-grouse. 37% of the total population resides within the boundaries of what is known as the Cowboy State. QUWF is providing critical sage-grouse research assistance through coordinated efforts with several agencies and local ranchers on 20 leks (spring drumming ground) totaling 26,000 sage-grouse breeding and nesting acres. Through its Chief Biologist, Nick Prough the research hopes to verify reasons and propose management actions to stop the rapid decline of – the largest of the grouse family and an Icon of Wyoming.
“Mountain Girl Photography has captured the sage-grouse on its natural lek location with outstanding photographs which we are using for our presentations, meetings and on our web site”, says Nick Prough QUWF Chief Wildlife Biologist and research leader.
Mountain Girl Photography is a professional backcountry photography company based in Cody, Wyoming, whose owner and lens master is Tessa Fowler. “Tessa is the essence of mountain culture, lore, wildlife and the passion to see what others cannot through her images” Craig reflects.
“My main focus is capturing all wildlife as they are in the mountains and valleys of Wyoming and Montana with my preference being mountain goats and bighorn sheep in the most rugged of locations. I also like grizzly, buffalo, moose, elk, mule deer, wolves and mountain lion giving them the respect and distance they deserve” reflects this one-of-a-kind photographer. Tessa also captures the sheer beauty of the mountain vistas, valleys, rivers and lakes with her lens, hiking miles into the back country with her dogs and trusted .45-70 over her shoulder. Her exclusive and unique work can be viewed both on the QUWF web site and purchased in many forms from her web site at www.MountainGirlPhotography.Shootproof.com.
