Did you know ticks are still active?

Doing daily tick checks, using long protective clothing, and using DEET containing bug spray can prevent health issues as a result of tick bites.

Alpha-gal syndrome is an allergy to hooved meat after the bite of a specific type of tick.  If you’ve had an allergic reaction and are concerned about this please talk with your medical provider.

If you have this diagnosis, be sure to notify staff when you go to restaurants, carry an epipen, and have an alert system for rescue personnel.  If you are a parent of a child with this diagnosis, please be sure to alert the school nurse.

While alpha-gal is still rare in general, it is important to get an accurate diagnosis to manage the condition.
